There's a reason why actresses like Ethel Merman, Patti Lupone and Bette Midler have wanted to play the mother of all musical roles. Gypsy is that good. Even The New York Times says it "may be the greatest of all American musicals." Only an epic this grand could capture the real-life Mama Rose, the ultimate stage mother, who groomed her two daughters to be vaudeville stars ... only to watch one of them leave it all behind to become the burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee. With a book by Arthur Laurents (West Side Story), music by Jule Styne (Funny Girl) and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods), this timeless favorite features crowd-pleasing songs like "Everything's Coming Up Roses," "Let Me Entertain You," "Together Wherever We Go," "Some People," "You Gotta Have a Gimmick" and the show-stopping "Rose's Turn." Catch this classic at Lyric Stage Company of Boston.

Set in medieval times, this bawdy black comedy centers on a rag-tag group of financially irresponsible French monks whose patron saint seems to have deserted them. Desperate for a way to save their monastery from economic ruin, the monks appear to be rescued when a cunning, one-eyed traveling minstrel teaches them an outrageous new way to fill their coffers. In crafting this clever comedy, award-winning playwright Michael Hollinger (Opus) drew inspiration from the true exploits of two feuding French monasteries in the 9th century and the widespread practice of buying, selling, stealing and faking holy relics in the early days of Christianity, when souvenirs from the saints were big business. Enjoy this Burlington Players production of Incorruptible at the Park Playhouse.
